Gulls fire a 299 on day two to finish in fourth place at ECAC's

FARMINGTON, Conn. - The Endicott College golf team shot a 309 on day one and an impressive 299 on day two to earn fourth place in the 2008 ECAC New England Division III Championships at Tunxis Plantation Golf Course on October 4th-5th. Trinity College shot a combined 582 (293 day one, 289 day two) to win the title, while Nichols College finished the two-day event with a combined 592 for second place. Trinity's Jay Driscoll earned individual gold with a 140 (72, 68) while Pat Pio of Nichols took home the silver with a 141 (73, 68).

Endicott's Daniel Ryan (Plymouth, Mass.) led the Blue and Green with a seventh place finish, shooting a 73 and 74 for a combined 147. The Gulls also got strong efforts from Peter Weatherby (Portsmouth, R.I.) and Andrew LaRocque (Averill Park, N.Y.) as the pair finished in a tie for 11th and 14th place, respectively. Jerry Miceli (South Windsor, Conn.) shot a 161 over the two days while Drew Sullivan (Katonah, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for Endicott with a 164.

Endicott finished just a stroke behind third place finisher Johnson & Wales University. The Gulls held off a consistent effort put forth by TCCC foe Western New England, who ended the two-day event in fifth place with a 612. The Gulls fourth place finish in the field of 17 teams in three spots better than last year's seventh place finish at the ECAC Championships.

Endicott returns to the links on Sunday afternoon as the Gulls travel to Dudley, Mass. for the Nichols College invitational. The Blue and Green will tee off at Blissful Meadows at 10:00 a.m.
