CANTON, Mass. – Last Sunday, the Endicott Club women's rugby team came up short against UMass Dartmouth in the CCRC Championship, 17-10.
In a very competitive match, both teams battled hard to put points on the board. Sophomore Gianna D'Aprile (Millis, Mass.) led the way for Endicott, scoring the only try for the Gulls during the entire game. In addition, sophomore Amanda Poulin (Turner, Maine) completed a conversion and freshman Kelsey Joyce (Wharton, N.J.) attempted and made a penalty kick during regulation. However, the Corsairs were just too much to handle down the stretch, and they eventually got the best of Gulls in the end.
"I'm really proud of the work our team put in this whole season," said senior Lauren Hervieux (Lincoln, R.I.). "We have a lot of new players show up this season that learned the game, and they all stepped up to contribute a lot. We didn't get the outcome we hoped for today, but we fought until the end and we're anticipating to come back even stronger next year."
In the last match of the season, the Gulls will take part in the Women's Patriot Bowl against Mount Holyoke College at the Irish Culture Center on Saturday, November 11th at 9:30 AM.
