BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's lacrosse student-athletes Hayden Souza (West Hartford, Conn.) and Derek Yannone (Lynnfield, Mass.) have earned weekly awards from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). Souza was named the CCC Defensive Player of the Week, while Yannone garnered CCC Specialist of the Week accolades, as announced by the conference earlier today.

In a 1-1 week for the Gulls, Hayden contributed nine ground balls and five caused turnovers. Five of his ground balls and four of his caused turnovers came in a non-conference loss to No. 6 Amherst. Meanwhile, his four other ground balls and one additional caused turnover against Salve Regina helped the Gulls' start off their conference schedule on a high note with a 14-8 victory.

Yannone also played a pivotal role in Endicott's 1-1 week as the junior faceoff specialist went 27-for-40 (67.5 percent) at the faceoff X, including a 20-for-23 (87.0 percent) showing in Endicott's conference opener against Salve Regina. In addition to his strong faceoff performance, Yannone also collected 12 ground balls with 11 coming against the Seahawks.

Endicott (1-5, 1-0 CCC) travels to Bates on Tuesday, March 27 for a non-conference clash at 5 PM.
