Endicott sees unbeaten streak snapped after 2-1 loss to UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – After going 7-0-1 in their previous eight matches, the Endicott men’s soccer team lost to the University of New England 2-1 on the road in CCC action.
The Gulls (7-7-3, 4-3-2 CCC) got a late, second-half goal from freshman Ben Streib (Ellington, Conn.) at 88:59 with an assist to sophomore Alex Elia (Somers, Conn.) but it was too late as UNE (3-10, 0-6 CCC) held on for the win.
In the 33rd minute, the Nor’easters got on the scoreboard when sophomore Steven Contestabile (Rochester, N.Y.) headed a cross from Anthony Frangione (Barnstread, N.H.) to put UNE up 1-0.
In the second half, UNE padded their lead on a goal by sophomore Kyle McGlone (Peabody, Mass.). McGlone’s shot hit the crossbar and went into the back of the net after the forwarded received a pass from Kiel Hiller (Galloway, N.J.).
Endicott’s goal came with just 61 seconds remaining as Streib send a bending shot from 25 yards out that hit the left post and trickled in. For Streib it was his fourth goal of the season.
Endicott’s Aaron Kanter (Medfield, Mass.) took the loss after making three saves between the posts.
The Blue and Green return to action on Wednesday, October 26th for a road game against non-conference opponent Framingham State starting at 3:00 pm. The Gulls then begin their quest for a conference title with the start of CCC Tournament action on October 29th.
