Men’s Tennis Caps Spring Break Trip With 8-1 Victory Against Edgewood
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Endicott men’s tennis team closed out its 2016 spring break trip on Wednesday afternoon with an 8-1 victory over Edgewood at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center.
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Endicott men's tennis team closed out its 2016 spring break trip on Wednesday afternoon with an 8-1 victory over Edgewood at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center.
Matthew Doherty's (Plymouth, Mass.) No. 5 singles match highlighted the afternoon for the Gulls as the sophomore earned a gritty and thrilling 5-7, 7-6 (17-15), 10-4 win over Alex Hadjiev (Verona, Wisc.).
Endicott took all six singles matches on the day as Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.), Eric Pierce (Barrington, R.I.), Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.), and Nicholas Eherts (New Milford, Conn.) all claimed victories in the No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 slots, respectively, ahead of Doherty. The Gulls also won by default at the No. 6 position.
In doubles action, McAndrews and Eherts defeated Jaime Benavides (Brawley, Calif.) and Andrew Martinez (Heber, Calif.) by an 8-4 score, while the No. 3 position was won by default.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- All six singles matches were played before the doubles portion of the match today.
- Doherty improved to 1-1 on the season in the No. 5 slot with his victory over Hadjiev.
- McAndrews and Eherts also picked up their first win of the season as a doubles pairing today.
