Men’s Tennis Falls To Carroll (Wis.), 6-3

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Endicott men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Carroll (Wis.) on Tuesday evening at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort.

Jack DeRizzo (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Thomas Brent (Gorham, Maine) shined for the Gulls in singles play as the freshmen claimed victories at No. 4 (6-1, 7-5) and No. 5 singles (6-2, 6-0) respectively.

Brent also teamed up with Sean McAndrews (Vineyhard Haven, Mass.) for the team's only other win at No. 3 doubles by an 8-2 score.

"Today's match against Carroll was a tough backend to the doubleheader," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "Despite the loss, we did have a couple of nice singles wins for some of our freshmen in the middle of the lineup. We will look to regroup for a tough Goucher squad on Thursday."

  • DeRizzo won both of his singles matches today to improve to 3-2 on the season.
  • Brent picked up his second career singles victory.
  • The Gulls had their last two matches in a row prior to today's loss.

Endicott (5-3) plays Goucher on Thursday, March 16 at the Evian Tennis Center in Hilton Head, South Carolina at 1 PM.
