BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's tennis student-athletes Daniel Rinkert (Ben Lomond, Calif.) and Cooper Walters (Madeira Beach, Fla.) have been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league earlier today.
Rinkert earned three wins for the Gulls this week including earning two points in a match against Colby-Sawyer. Rinkert played in the No. 2 singles position in that match winning in straight sets (7-5, 6-4). At No. 3 doubles he won 8-7, capturing the tiebreaker 7-4. Against Saint Michael's he won his No. 1 singles match (7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 10-0), earning the victory in a super tiebreaker.
Meanwhile, Walters, played at No. 3 singles this week, earning wins in both of Endicott's matches via super tiebreaker. He claimed the first set against both Colby-Sawyer and Saint Michael's, 6-4, before dropping the second set in both matches. He bounced back to win the super tiebreakers by identical 10-8 scores. He also earned a win at No. 1 doubles against Saint Michael's, 6-4.
Endicott (4-4) will host Wentworth on Saturday, March 30 for Senior Day at 1:00 PM.
