February 18, 2010
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott College baseball team has been selected to finish fourth in The Commonwealth Coast Conference according to the 2010 TCCC Baseball Preseason Poll announced by the conference offices on Wednesday afternoon. Last season, the Gulls finished 20-22 overall and 12-10 in the TCCC to end the year in fourth place.
Curry (34-7, 22-1), the 2009 TCCC Regular Season Champions, received eight of the 12 first-place votes in the 2010 TCCC preseason poll. Two-time Defending Champion Western New England received the remaining four first place votes and was selected as the runner-up, while Roger Williams was picked to finish third. Endicott was selected to finish fourth, while Wentworth rounded out the top-5 in fifth place.
Endicott had an impressive end to the season last year, winning five of its last six conference games to push their way into the heat of the playoff race. The Gulls downed Salve Regina, 10-0, in the opening round of play and then upset Curry College, 2-0, in the second round of action. The Colonels would rebound however, sweeping a double-header from the Gulls to get to the conference finals held the next day.
Teams received 12 points for every first place vote received, 11 points for second place votes, 10 points for third place votes, down to one point for a last place vote. First place votes are shown in parentheses.
