Baseball Lands Six On All-CCC Teams

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott baseball program saw six of its student-athletes earn Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason honors earlier today, as announced by the league office.

Kevin Gould (Rollinsford, N.H.) and Matt Bald (De Pere, Wisc.) headlined the group with All-CCC First Team selections.

Meanwhile, Zachary Sultar (South Windsor, Conn.), Christian Allaire (Sandown, N.H.), and Dan Cacciola (Saugus, Mass.) all received All-CCC Second Team honors.

Cooper Anibal (Bedford, N.H.) rounded out the list of award winners for the Gulls with a nod to the All-CCC Third Team.

In nine appearances (all starts) this season, Gould posted a 4-2 record to go along with a 2.26 earned run average (ERA), a team-best 59 strikeouts, and a .229 opponents' batting average in 51 2/3 innings pitched. Gould's current CCC rankings include: strikeouts (1st), strikeouts per nine innings (2nd, 10.28), ERA (2nd), wins (3rd), and innings pitched (6th).

Meanwhile, six of Gould's starts have gone six innings or longer, which includes a complete-game shutout against Salve Regina on April 14. In that start, Gould struck out a season-high 11 batters. He has done that three times total this season.

Bald, who has split time starting at third base and left field for Endicott this spring, has also registered a team-leading 17 multi-hit games (12 2-hit, two 3-hit, one 4-hit, one 5+) and sports the highest batting average on the team (fourth in the CCC). Bald's other CCC ranks include: runs (8th), hits (3rd), RBI (14th), walks (23rd), on-base percentage (15th), and slugging percentage (26th).

Sultar has compiled a 2-0 record and a team-best 1.24 ERA in eight appearances this season (six starts). In those eight appearances, Sultar has logged 29 innings, struck out 23 batters and held opponents to a .202 batting average.

In his first collegiate season (37 games played/37 games started), Allaire has registered a .250/.349/.266 slash line alongside 22 runs scored, two doubles, 20 RBI, 17 walks, and 17 stolen bases on 21 attempts. Allaire has also notched seven multi-hit games (6-2, 1-3) and five multi-RBI contests (tied second on the team, 4-2, 1-3).

Cacciola's stat line this season includes a .254/.390/.361 triple slash, 17 runs scored, 31 hits, nine doubles, two triples, 18 RBI, 25 walks, and 11 stolen bases on 19 attempts. In addition to those numbers, Cacciola has collected seven multi-hit (5-2, 1-3, 1-4) and five multi-RBI (3-2, 2-3) games.

In 12 appearances (two starts), Anibal is 2-1 this season with one save and a 3.00 ERA in 30 innings pitched. Anibal has recorded 23 strikeouts, held opponents to a .241 batting average, and pitched two or more innings in five relief appearances this year, one of which included a four-inning save against St. Norbert on March 18.
