WP (4-0): John Connolly (Attleboro, Mass.) — 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 4 K
LP (0-3): Justin Markell (San Diego, Calif.) — 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
Cade Bernardo (Glenmont, N.Y.) delivered the biggest blow in the contest, as the sophomore first baseman struck for a two-run single in the second, plating Zach Stephenson (Mansfield, Mass.) and Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) for a 3-0 lead.
Bernardo's two-run base knock was sandwiched between sac flies by Kyle Grabowski (Westfield, Mass.), Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.), and Stephenson in the first, second, and sixth innings.
The Gulls also saw Max Jarvie (Wilton, Conn.) highlight the bullpen's efforts with two scoreless frames following Connolly's departure after five full. Jarvie only allowed one hit, issued one, and recorded one strikeout in his seventh appearance of the season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott leads the all-time series 13-3 (winners of five straight).
- The Gulls had two defensive gems in the game, the first being a diving catch by MacDougall (LF) in the first inning, and a leaping catch by second baseman AJ Hamm (Shrewsbury, Mass.) to rob a two-out hit in the fourth (both plays in video highlights).
- Endicott pushed its winning streak to 18 straight games.
- Connolly earned his 16th career win.
- The Blue and Green are 16-0 at home this season.
- Third shutout for the Gulls on the year.
