2025 ABCA/RAWLINGS GOLD GLOVE AWARD WINNERS
BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott baseball graduate catcher John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.) has earned the Division III American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Gold Glove, the organizations announced on Wednesday evening.
Mulready also took home the award in 2023, which makes him the second two-time honoree in Gulls program history, accompanying Brett Holmgren '14 (Middleboro, Mass.).
The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Awards are selected by ABCA coaches committees at each level: NCAA Division I, II & III, NAIA, NJCAA Division I, II & III, Pacific Association Division, and High School.
Behind the dish, Mulready posted a .994 fielding percentage on 345 total chances. He cut down base stealers at a 39% clip, always holding the opponents' running games at bay.
Additionally, he guided Endicott's pitching staff to the fourth-best ERA in the nation at 3.13 in his 50 games behind the plate.
The Gulls' pitching staff also featured the fourth-best WHIP in the nation (1.21) and the fifth-lowest hits allowed per nine innings in the nation (7.63).
Since 2023, the team has consistently ranked in the top five of all of those categories.
Mulready was not just a defensive threat, but also led the team out of the middle of the lineup with a slashline of .363/.438/.556, six home runs, and 56 RBIs.
Among the many impressive feats in his storied career include the second most games played in program history (182), second most at-bats (634), T-second most RBI (151), third most hits (215), fifth most home runs (23), and third most total bases (335).
Perhaps most impressively, his leadership and stellar play were a major reason why the Gulls made three straight runs to the College World Series, surpassing new heights each season.
In addition to his second career Gold Glove, Mulready's postseason honors in 2025 now include an ABCA All-America Fourth Team, ABCA and D3baseball.com All-Region First Team, CNE Defensive Player of the Year, and All-CNE First Team.
