Krendel Garners Pitcher of the Week Honors
BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott baseball freshman left-handed pitcher Jeremy Krendel (Framingham, Mass.) has been named the Conference of New England's (CNE) Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
In Endicott's 4-0 week (3-0 CNE), Krendel was nails out of the bullpen.
The freshman went 5.0 innings over his two appearances, and limited opposing hitters to just three hits, one walk, and one earned run. He fanned nine batters along the way.
On Wednesday against Southern Maine, he entered in the sixth with a 3-0 lead. The freshman southpaw dealt 3.0 innings, and faced the minimum in that sequence. He picked up six strikeouts in the nine-batter stretch.
He came back out to face the top of the order, but was pulled after allowing the first two men to reach base in the ninth.
Then, on Saturday, he closed out Endicott's doubleheader sweep over Hartford with a line of 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, and 3 K. For his efforts, he earned his first career save.
This is Krendel's first career CNE Pitcher of the Week award.
