Dance Team takes 2nd Place and wins the Best Choreography Award
April 13, 2009
On Sunday, March 29th, 2009 the Endicott Dance Team competed in the New England Dance Championships at the DCU center in Worcester MA. This competition was hosted by the Universal Dance Association. UDA is a nationally recognized association that hosts competitions for Colleges and Universities throughout the United States.
Many teams with established dance programs were in the line up along with Endicott. Uconn, Stonehill, Quinnipac, Assumption, Adelphi, Bridgewater and Worcester State, just to name a few, were seeking to take the win.
As the 8 girls took the floor ( 7 of whom are Freshman and 1 Junior), they were prepared to showcase their hard work and talent to the judges and other schools. After finishing their performance, there was no doubt to all of those in attendance that Endicott "has arrived".
At the end of the competition, while scores were being tabulated, the team and coach were sitting with anticipation of what the results would be. As there division was called and placements were named from 8th to 3rd, not hearing the schools name, all they could wonder was "Did we do it?".
Taking 2nd place out of 8 teams along with winning the Best Choreography Award out of 35 teams ( choreography by Endicott's own head coach, Nicole Sao Pedro) further solidifies the Endicott Dance Team and has set the mark for the programs future.
They are no longer what they once were... a new found respect has been granted to the dancers and the Endicott Dance Team throughout New England.
