Third period burst fuels men's hockey

Cambridge, Mass. – Endicott scored three times in a two-minute span in the third period to break a 3-3 tie and pick up a 6-5 win over Harvard in men’s ice hockey action Wednesday night.
The Gulls improve to 4-4-2 overall after picking up their second consecutive victory.
Through two periods, Endicott and Harvard were knotted at three before the visitors caught fire early in the final period. Harvard answered with a pair of goals but fell short of the comeback.
\#Rob DiNicola\# (Wolcott, Conn.) opened the scoring for Endicott with a first period goal to tie the game at one. Freshman \#Ryan Pratt\# (Waltham, Mass.) and classmate \#Cameron MacLeod\# (Hampton Falls, N.H.) hit the junior forward to put the Gulls on the board.
Harvard’s Lou Argenberi scored with just over three minutes remaining in the opening period to give the hosts a 2-1 lead entering the first intermission.
The Blue and Green countered with two straight goals to take a 3-2 lead in the second period. Pratt and MacLeod connected at 18:07 to level the score at two before \#Travis Dion\# (Saco, Maine) and \#Matthew Zimmerman\# (South Glastonbury, Conn.) found \#Garrett Moore\# (Sudbury, Mass.) to give the Gulls their first lead of the night.
The Crimson’s Dan Cotlon evened the game with seven minutes remaining in the second period.
\#Tad Gold\# (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) scored 23 seconds into the third period to give the Gulls a lead they would not relinquish. Pratt and junior \#Andrew Richardson\# (Lancaster, Mass.) assisted on the play.
One minute later, DiNicola and junior captain \#Jeffrey Breault\# (Blackstone, Mass.) found \#Kevin Bunting\# (Plantsville, Conn.) to double the lead.
Endicott took a commanding 6-3 lead just over 30 seconds later on a Dion goal. Moore and Zimmerman tallied assists on the play.
Despite two unanswered goals by Harvard, Endicott held on for the 6-5 win.
The Gulls return to the ice on Saturday when they play host to Marist at 7:30 pm.
