Crew Women Win NECRL Championship, Men Second

Women's crew swept the 2011 New England Collegiate Rowing League Championships en route to capturing the first league championship in team history.  Despite not having a men's varsity crew, the novice men performed well all season long to finish second to two-time champion Wentworth in the men's division.

 

The women's varsity 4+ (c: Katie Cody, 4: Joy Harriman, 3: Andrea Ford, 2: Courtney Russell, 1: Haley Russo) wrapped up their 2011 NECRL campaign undefeated with a 20 second win over number two Brandeis for the varsity women's title.  Not to be outdone, the women's novice 4+ (c: Katie Cody, 4: Amanda Bedding, 3: Taylor Chisholm, 2: Rachel Griffin, 1: Hannah Cushman) which started the spring as Endicott's novice B entry, continued to overcome the odds and defeated \#1 Wentworth by 15 seconds to claim Endicott's second women's novice title in as many years.

 

On the men's side, the men's novice 4+(c: Mariah Scanlon, 4: Scott MacPhee, 3: Clayton Morrissey, 2: Stephen Harper, 1: Alston Adkins) rowed the fourth fastest time on the river of the day, yet fell to quick Wentworth crew who claimed the men's novice title.  In other action, the top Endicott mixed 4+ (c: Scanlon, 4: Harriman, 3: Morrissey, 2: MacPhee, 1: Ford) finished second of seven boats to claim silver.  In consolation action, Endicott's second men's novice 4+ fell to Brandeis and the second women's novice 4+ were downed by Assumption, despite strong improvements over the past week by both crews.  

 

The men's novice 4+ and women's varsity 4+ are headed to Philadelphia next week for the Dad Vail Regatta (small school national championships), which starts on Friday and the rest of the team ended the 2010-2011 campaign with strong rows and are looking forward to the fall season!
