Endicott raises the bar at the Head of the Fish Regatta
Endicott Crew traveled to Saratoga to compete in the Head of the Fish Regatta this past weekend. The Endicott Crew team had decided to make its first trip to this regatta as part of the teams overall goal to raise the level and scope of the competition they race. The regatta did not disappoint as the team faced some of the strongest competition and largest fields they had seen this year over the past few seasons.

The regatta did not disappoint as the team faced some of the strongest competition and largest fields they had seen this year over the past few seasons.
The men's varsity crew lead off the day with their race. The men's boat consisting of Nathan Simeon at stroke, men's captain Alston Adkins in 3, Ian Kaeding in 2, Mike Herman in bow and Mike Fortin manning the helm as the coxswain. The men persevered through stiff competition and were able to focus on maintain a long solid stroke throughout the duration of the race. This Men's boat has seen vast technical improvements throughout the fall developmental season and are beginning to turn the changes into some positive results on the course, The men finished 29th in a 33 boat field which included perennial Dad Vail finalists with a time of 14:49,
The novice women were next to go down the course. The Endicott women were represented by Michelle Duffy at stroke, Rachel Lemieux in 3, Kendra Czernicki in 2, Sarah McDonaugh in Bow and with Danielle Boucher as the coxswain. The boat showed tremendous improvement in their technical proficiency of their stroke from their previous race.
The women's novice finished the course in 17:17 which was good for 14th out of the 18 boat field.
The varsity women's boat was on the course to start the afternoon and they continued the momentum they had gained in the previous race. The women's varsity contingent consisted of junior Andrea Ford at stroke, sophomore Rachel Mueller in 3, women's captain junior Jennifer Thomas in 2, sophomore Marina Phillips in bow with sophomore Coxwain Maria Battista leading them down the course. The women had a strong piece and were better able to hold their length and power throughout the whole course at a significantly higher stroke rating than earlier in the year. The women finished 22nd in a very strong field of 36 with a time of 16:01.
The men's novice boat finished off the racing day for Endicott. The men's novice boat was stroked by Andrew Salvatore, Brad Hunt in 3, Joseph Paolini in 2, Colby Clarizia in bow and Danielle Boucher coxing her second race of the day. The novice men, much like their counterparts on the women's side showed incredible improvement from their prior race. Coach Tim Dufner has been working diligently with the boat and the hard work put in by the rowers is beginning to show.
The men finished 12 in their field of 13 boats with a time of 18:00.
Up next the team travels to their final race of the season against familiar competition for the NECRL's Fall Championship race. The race will be held Saturday November 3rd at Lasell College in Auburndale.
