Busy Weekend for EC Riders
April 3, 2007
DANVERS, MA - The Endicott College Equestrian team had a busy weekend, taking both Reserve High Point School and High Point Rider awards on Saturday. EC also qualified three more riders for Regionals at the show hosted by Bridgewater State College, Harvard University and UMass Lowell.
In Saturday's show, freshman Ashley Vorrias (Peabody, MA) won her intermediate flat and fences classes and was named High Point rider for the show. The team took home a total of six blue ribbons.
In addition to Vorrias, Chelsea Conant (Richmond, VT), Casey Lake (Milton, MA), Kerith Kellogg (Wylie, TX) and Alyson DePathy (Plantsville, CT) brought home blue ribbons. The seven points they earned qualified Kellogg, Depathy and Vorrias to ride in the Regional finals held on Sunday.
The Gulls also rode well in Sunday's Regional, with Alisha Phipps (Cotuit, MA) beating a field of 17 to win the Walk-Trot-Canter class, and will now represent Endicott at the Zone 1 finals on April 7. The Regional show was hosted by Endicott College at Springtide Farm.
The Zone 1 show will be held at Mt. Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA. The top two riders in the Walk-Trot-Canter Division will compete in the IHSA National Championships to be held at the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, MA.
