SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Endicott freshman rider Isabella Jarosiewicz (Boxford, Mass.) placed fifth overall out of 16 competitors in intermediate flat at the 2019 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships on Thursday evening, hosted at the New York State Fair Expo Center.
Jarosiewicz's fifth place finish marks the highest placement in program history for an Endicott rider at nationals (based upon available data). Additionally, Jarosiewicz is the sixth rider in program history to qualify for nationals and first since the 2011-12 season.
Other qualifiers for the Gulls include Megan Piermarini (1st-ever qualifier, 2004-05 season); Bethany Prussman (2005-06), Chelsea Conant (2007-08); Susie Pellick (2011-12), and Lauren Horth (2011-12).
"I couldn't be more proud of Isabella today. Nationals is full of pressure and the best riders in the country in IHSA," said Endicott equestrian head coach Bethany Jones. "She went in the ring and gave it her all and it showed. She pulled a wonderful warmblood named Timmy who was a great match to her riding technique. She was fifth out of extremely stiff competition. We're very happy with her performance and are planning to return to nationals again next year."
"Nationals was a great experience and I pulled a phenomenal horse," said Jarosiewicz. "I feel very lucky to have experienced this in my freshman year of college. I love the program, my coaches are great and I'm hoping to get back to nationals again in my college career."
