EC Equestrian Competes
Endicott's equestrians started their season strong with a solid team finish and several individuals winning high ribbons. The first event was hosted by Boston University at Holly Hill Show Stable in Hanover, MA. Once again, the team showed strength in the lower levels.
The number of riders for each team was limited to 15, therefore, returning team members made up most of the team while many first year riders observed to learn what competing in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association involves.
In the Open classes (the most advanced and competitive), Michaela Barbera was awarded a third in her over fences class while Erin Corey, Kate Sorenson, Leah Aronow, Michaela Barbera and Sharlyn Prieskorn brought home ribbons in Open Flat. Some of the best riders in the country compete at this level.
Lauren Eldridge came in 6th in Intermediate Fences while Olivia Koines earned a blue ribbon in her first Intermediate Flat class.
At the Novice level, Elyssa Paquin was awarded second place in her over fences, while Karissa Bonner and Olivia Koines received thirds. Molly Nelson came in fourth in Novice Flat while Karissa Bonner earned a second. Caitlyn Pilch was awarded a fifth place and Elyssa Paquin a third.
Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter riders did well with Megan Piermarini riding to a second place and Sarah Ireland to a third. Team Co-captain Liz Duboc, continued her winning ways with a first in Beginner Walt-Trot-Canter and Stacy Locke did likewise in Walk-Trot.
Endicott came in fourth over all, competing against last year's national champion Stonehill College, as well as Boston College, Boston University, Framingham State College, Harvard University, Tufts University, University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, Wellesley College and Wheaton College.
Unlike other sports, Alumni can compete in their own classes. Endicott graduate Alexis Bochain won fifth place in Alumni flat. More alum will be competing at the next show on October 25th, hosted by Stonehill College.
