BEVERLY, Mass. – New England Football Conference (NEFC) Publicity Director Roger Crosley announced that 214 student-athletes from the 16-member conference were named to the All-Academic Team, 19 of which came from the Endicott football team.
To be a member of the NEFC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have completed at least three semesters at the same institution with a cumulative of 3.0 or better grade point average (based on a 4.0 scale).
Overall, the league saw a drop in All-Academic honorees with 244 players being recognized in 2010 but Endicott saw improved results from one season ago. The Gulls had three more student-athletes recognized in 2011 than 2010 and of those 19, two of them were named to CoSIDA’s Capital One Academic All-America Team (Mike Lane, Mike Zupkosky).
The Gulls finished third behind MIT (28) and Salve Regina (22) with their 19 NEFC All-Academic award winners. Seven of 19 were above a 3.30 GPA.
The list of Endicott football players on the NEFC All-Academic Team is below. The full list of winners across the entire league is on the PDF link at the top of the page.
