Allen and Eagan among 2011 CDS Preseason All-American Selections
June 20, 2011
Seniors Taylor Allen (Westboro, Mass.) and Kevin Eagan (West Hartford, Conn.) were both recognized by Consensus Draft Services (CDS) as members of their list of 2011 Division III Preseason All-Americans. Allen and Eagan accounted for two of just four New England Football Conference (NEFC) student-athletes that were recognized as either first or second team, offense or defense.
Allen was selected First Team Offensive at the tight end position following a 2010 season in which he led the Blue and Green with a team-high seven touchdown receptions. Allen, who was named NEFC First Team and All-East Region Third Team by D3Football.com, ranked third on the Gulls receiving corps with 418 yards on 32 receptions.
Allen’s biggest games came against Endicott’s toughest competitors as he recorded touchdown catches in a fourth-quarter comeback over Salve Regina, a crucial NEFC Boyd Division victory over Western New England, and in the NEFC Championship game over Maine Maritime Academy.
In comparison to his 2009 season, Allen shattered every single personal record to-date. He increased his individual numbers in games played, receptions, receiving yards, touchdown receptions, receptions per game and receiving yards per game.
Defensive lineman Kevin Eagan, highly decorated following another dominating 2011 season, was honored as a Second Team Defense player on the 2011 CDS Division III Preseason All-American list. Eagan’s defensive numbers do not even begin to account for his impactful presence on the field for Endicott. His opponents recognized his abilities in 2010 as Eagan was named NEFC Boyd Division Defensive Player of the Year, ECAC Division III North Defensive Player of the Year, D3Football.com All-East Region Second Team Defense, and a New England Football Writers Division II/III All-Star.
Eagan amassed a team-high 94 tackles in 12 games played last season, including 45 solo takedowns. Eighteen of those tackles were for a loss, eight of which were sacks for a loss of 43 yards. Eagan also had six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a blocked kick.
In four games last season, Eagan totaled double-digit tackles and in three additional games, including Endicott’s game against Cortland State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the lineman had nine tackles. On October 30th against Western New England, Eagan had five solo and four assisted tackles, two of which were for a loss and one was a sack.
Other NEFC student-athletes on this list include Framingham State wide receiver James McCarthy, a First Team honoree, and Second Team linebacker Joel Chadbourne from Maine Maritime.
