Rivera, Regan, Scherer Claim NEFC Weekly Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott freshmen William Rivera (Orangeburg, N.Y.), and Michael Scherer (Middlefield, Conn.), and junior Kyle Regan (Nashua, N.H.) all claimed New England Football Conference (NEFC) weekly awards for their efforts last Saturday against Coast Guard. Rivera was named the NEFC Defensive Rookie of the Week for the sixth time this season, while Scherer collected Offensive Rookie of the Week accolades. Regan rounded out the group with his third career Special Teams Player of the Week honor.

Teammates Jacob Simons (Barrington, R.I.) and John Fortes (North Reading, Mass.) also earned spots on the NEFC Honor Roll.

NEFC OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

In his first career start under center, Scherer completed 13 of his 21 pass attempts for 217 yards and one passing touchdown to propel Endicott past Coast Guard, 33-5. Scherer also caught a touchdown pass off an end around in the third quarter (8:05), and rushed for 10 yards on four attempts - three of which produced first downs on fourth-and-short situations.

NEFC DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Rivera posted four tackles (three solo, one assisted) in a 33-5 win over Coast Guard. Rivera's play aided the Gulls in holding the Bears to a season-low 110 yards of total offense on the day.

NEFC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Regan went 2-for-2 on field goal attempts in a 33-5 win over Coast Guard on Saturday. Regan opened up the scoring in the contest with a 23-yard field goal, and also added a 27-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. In addition to his field goal duties, Regan averaged 56 yards per kickoff (392 yards total, seven attempts).

NEFC HONOR ROLL

Simons led Endicott to a 33-5 victory over Coast Guard on Saturday by registering three catches for 71 yards and a pair of touchdowns (career high) in the win.

Fortes compiled four tackles (one solo, three assisted), 1.5 sacks (12 yards), 2.0 tackles for a loss (13 yards), and one quarterback hurry in a 33-5 win over Coast Guard. Defensively, the Gulls held the Bears to a season-low 110 yards of total offense.

Endicott went 5-5 overall on the season, and 5-2 in NEFC play.
