Trio Of Gulls Receive CCC Football Weekly Awards

CCC WEEKLY RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott student-athletes Shane Aylward (Tewksbury, Mass.), Kevin Lemieux (Ashburnham, Mass.), and Ryan Smith (Glastonbury, Conn.) have all earned Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football) weekly awards, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Aylward and Lemieux received Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Week accolades, respectively, while Smith was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.

Today's announcement marks Aylward's second career Offensive Rookie of the Week honor. Meanwhile, Lemieux and Smith collected their first career weekly awards.

In Endicott's 30-21 comeback win over Norwich last Saturday, Aylward eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the first time in his collegiate career, reeling in five catches for 101 yards. One of those catches was a six-yard touchdown reception that gave the Gulls their first lead of the game early in the third quarter.

Lemieux also put together a career game last Saturday setting a new personal best with seven tackles (three solo, four assisted), including two tackles for a loss and his first collegiate sack. Additionally, Lemieux forced a fumble late in the game that sealed the victory for the Gulls.

As for Smith, the rookie kicker earned a career-high 12 points last Saturday. Smith made three-of-four field goals, converting from 32, 36, and 40 yards, and was also perfect on extra-point attempts. His 40-yard attempt was just one yard shy of his career-long.

Endicott (3-1) opens up CCC Football play against Curry College on Homecoming Saturday (Oct. 2) at 12 PM.
