Football Bests Maritime (N.Y.), 41-7
BEVERLY, Mass. – Behind a balanced offensive effort, the Endicott football team defeated Maritime (N.Y.), 41-7, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium.
The Gulls compiled a season-high 536 yards of total offense (240 passing, 296 rushing) in the victory, including three passing touchdowns and three rushing scores.
Junior quarterback Shea Lynch (Peabody, Mass.) connected with eight different receivers for 240 yards and a career-high three passing TDs (21-for-27, 1 interception).
Jayson Little (Natick, Mass.) led the receiving corps with game-highs for catches (5) and yards (86), which included a 31-yard TD grab in the second quarter (12:40) to give Endicott a 14-0 lead.
Meanwhile, Mike Greene (Wolcott, Conn.) opened up the scoring at 11:49 of the first, when he snagged a deflected pass in the left corner of the end zone. Greene finished the contest with three catches and 29 yards, both career-highs.
Bryan Metayer (Norwood, Mass.) found the end zone via both varieties, punching home a 1-yard rushing TD at 5:22 of the second (21-0) before he converted a short pass and catch into a 29-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter (14:29, 35-7).
The senior running back totaled 164 all-purpose yards on the day, highlighted by a 65-yard return on the game's opening kickoff (rushing: 14 attempts, 47 yards | receiving: 3 receptions, 35 yards).
Endicott also cashed in on a three-yard rushing TD from Kennedy Charles (Portland, Maine) in the second quarter (0:45, 28-0) and a bulldozing 37-yard career-long run via Ryan Boyce (Northbridge, Mass.) in the fourth (11:56, 41-7).
Freshman Bryan Ferreira (Woburn, Mass.) guided the rushing attack, which featured eight ball carriers, with team-highs in carries (15) and yards (82, 5.5 average).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is 2-0 all-time against Maritime.
- The Gulls have outscored the Privateers 68-7 combined in the two matchups.
- Joe Tirrell (Franklin, Mass.) led the defense with a game-high seven tackles (two solo).
- Trent Jackson (East Providence, R.I.) produced a career day in the trenches with a strip sack and pass breakup that forced a turnover on downs late in the fourth quarter.
- Jackson Adams (Delmar, N.Y.) filled the stat sheet with three tackles (2 solo), including one sack and two tackles for a loss.
- Cody Howard (Franklin, Mass.) compiled a career-high four tackles (1 solo).
- Endicott held Maritime to season lows in points scored (7) and total offense (144 yards; first game under 200).
- Little hauled in his first TD reception of the season (fifth career).
- Boyce notched his second career rushing touchdown.
- Lynch linked up with eight receivers for the second straight game (ties career-high).
