Bio
Anthony Volpone begins his seventh year as a member of the Endicott Football staff. The team's associate head coach, he is in charge of coordinating the offense and coaching the quarterbacks. He also serves as the program’s recruiting coordinator.
In his time the offense has broken many program records, broken or tied eleven NEFC records, recorded six All-America nominations, three ECAC All-Star selections, 31 All-Conference selections, four Academic All-Americans, two NEFC Rookie of the Year award winners and a NEFC and ECAC Player of the Year in Quarterback Phil Konopka. Konopka has also been recognized as the program’s only Golden Helmet Award recipient awarded by the New England Football Writers Gridiron Club.
Last fall the Gulls offense averaged 40.7 points/game which was 1st in the NEFC and good enough for 9th in all NCAA Division III teams. The offense also ranked #1 in red zone offense and produced the highest ranked quarterback in sophomore quarterback Drew Frenette.
In 2011 the Gulls were ranked #1 in the NEFC in the following offensive categories: scoring, passing offense, total offense, passing efficiency, first downs, red zone offense and 3rd down conversions along the way capturing its first 10 win season and first ever ECAC Bowl Championship. The offense was also highly ranked in several offensive categories on a national level in total offense (18th), first downs (20th), passing efficiency (7th), and scoring (10th).
In 2010 Endicott’s offense ranked high in several NEFC offensive categories: scoring (3rd), passing offense (3rd), passing efficiency(3rd), first downs (3rd), turnover margin (2nd), total offense (5th), red zone offense (3rd) on its way to capturing its first ever Boyd Division Championship. In the same year Endicott defeated Maine Maritime to win its first NEFC Championship and gain a berth in the NCAA playoffs with Quarterback Phil Konopka earning the game’s MVP.
Volpone came to Endicott with a wealth of football experience, having coached at the collegiate level with NEFC foe Nichols College, Bridgewater College (Va.), Norwich University, and Becker College. Volpone began his coaching career at his alma mater, Nichols College, from 2000-03. While at Nichols, Anthony served as the quarterback and running backs coach and was instrumental in guiding the Bison to the ECAC Championship game in 2000 and to becoming NEFC Boyd Division champions in 2001.
In 2003, Volpone accepted the assistant football and
assistant athletic director position at Pine Crest Preparatory
School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. From Pine Crest, Anthony moved
on to Bridgewater, Virginia for the assistant job at Bridgewater
College. At BC, Volpone coached the tight end and offensive line
positions. With his help, the Eagles captured the Old Dominion
Athletic Conference title and a berth in the NCAA
playoffs.
Norwich University came calling in 2005, naming Volpone their
quarterbacks coach, recruiting coordinator and Director of Football
Operations.
Anthony is married to his wife Aida of eight years and has a
eighteen month old son, Charlie and they currently reside in
Swampscott, Mass.
