Oct. 20, 2005
NEWPORT, R.I. - Sophomore Caroline Galligan (W. Newbury, MA) re-directed a pass from Katelyn McGuire (Claremont, N.H.) to score the game-winner with just over six minutes remaining in regulation as Salve Regina University defeated Endicott College, 3-2, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey action.
Endicott outshot the home team, 38-6, and had 20 more shots in the first half. But the Seahawks enjoyed a 2-0 lead after goals from Ashley Despres (Leominster, MA) and sophomore Carolyn Salvucci (Chelmsford, MA). The Gulls kept the pressure on and had the game tied before intermission on goals from sophomore Ashley Meunier (Hartland, VT) and junior Lindsay Fallon (Southampton, NY).
Seahawk keeper Brook Bowley (Hollis, ME) stopped 23 shots in the victory to help Salve Regina (6-4; 3-2 CCC) snap a three-game losing skid, winning for the first time since September 24. The Seahawks also end a three-game losing streak to the Gulls (9-5, 2-3 CCC), winning for the first time since 2002.
