Gulls tabbed preseason favorite in 2009
The Endicott College field hockey team has been selected as the preseason favorite in the 2009 TCCC Preseason Poll, as announced by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye on Tuesday afternoon. The Gulls, the 2008 ECAC Champions, will look to avenge a loss to New England College in last year’s TCCC Final.
Endicott College (18-5, 8-0 TCCC) received six of the nine first-place votes in the 2009 TCCC preseason poll. Seven-time defending champions New England College were selected by the coaches as the runner-up in the conference and received the remaining three first-place votes. Gordon College and Nichols College were each picked to finish third by the coaches.
Teams received nine points for every first place vote received, eight points for second place votes, seven points for third place votes, down to one point for a last place vote. Voting for the preseason poll was done among the league’s head field hockey coaches.
