Reid, Teixeira earn TCCC honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A pair of Endicott College field hockey players earned The Commonwealth Coast Conference honors this week as \#Joanne Reid\# (Clarksville, Md.) was named TCCC Offensive Player of the Week and goalkeeper \#Taylor Teixeira\# (Exeter, N.H.) was honored as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week it was announced on Monday afternoon by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. Reid and Teixeira helped the Gulls (8-6, 4-1 TCCC) go 3-0 last week, including a pair of non-conference victories over Wellesley and SUNY New Paltz.
Reid recorded five points during the week including the first goal, and eventual game-winner in a 4-0 victory over cross-town rival Gordon College. The junior midfielder then followed that up with a goal and an assist in a 2-0 victory over Wellesley College in non-conference action. In the last game of the week, Reid got off one shot in a 1-0 victory over SUNY New Paltz.
Net minder \#Taylor Teixeira\# helped backstop the Gulls to a perfect 3-0 week by not allowing a single goal in the three contests. The freshman made four saves in the victory over Gordon and then followed that up with a seven save performance against Wellesley. Teixeira wrapped up her week by making five stops on 10 shots faced in the 1-0 win over SUNY New Paltz, securing her fourth shutout of the season.
Reid, Teixeira and the Gulls return to action on Tuesday as Endicott travels to Newport, R.I. for a conference matchup with Salve Regina at 4:00 p.m.
