Fall captains named for back-to-back CCC field hockey champion Gulls

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott's two-time conference title defending field hockey team will be captained by seniors Amanda Glynn (Hampton, N.H.), Emily O'Halloran (Cheshire, Conn.), and Stacie Teevens (Westborough, Mass.) as well as junior Meghan Leary (Hampton Falls, N.H.).  The Gulls will look to these four standout student-athletes to help an Endicott squad, a team finished the 2012 season ranked third in the region, to continue its run of success under seventh year head coach Jodi Cipolla.

Cipolla guided Endicott to its second straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) last November, defeating Nichols 2-1 in overtime to send the Gulls into the NCAA Tournament.  Her overall record as head coach at Endicott is 79-44 (.642 win percentage) with a remarkable 41-11 (.788 win percentage) standing against CCC opponents. 

Amanda Glynn, Defense

Glynn, a senior nursing major, has played in 22 games in her career for Endicott.

Coach Cipolla says, "Amanda is a natural leader in terms of team cohesion and motivation.  She has the ability to inspire greatness in her teammates.  Amanda has battled back from a couple injuries, but has never allowed that to keep her from reaching her fullest potential.  She has been extremely versatile and is willing to do anything that her team needs to lead us to success."

Emily O'Halloran, Defense

O'Halloran, a Psychology major, has played in 32 games for the Gulls including a standout junior season in which she started all 21 games while making three defensive saves. 

Coach Cipolla says, "Emily is a great role model both on and off the field.  She has a tremendous work ethic which has garnered her great respect from her teammates. She is the most experienced defender on our roster, and I look forward to her being steadfast in the backfield this season. She is not necessarily the loudest voice you will hear, but is often the most impactful."

Stacie Teevens, Midfield

With six goals and 13 assists for her career, Teevens come into her senior year looking to contribute one final impactful season.  Teevens totaled a career-high 10 points in 2012 with three goals and four assists.  She has played in nearly every game since her freshman campaign, appearing in 55 contests including 38 starts in her sophomore and junior seasons.  Teevens will graduate as a Physical Education – Teacher Licensure major next May.

Coach Cipolla says, "Stacie is two-time captain for us for a reason.  On and off the field she exemplifies who we are as a field hockey program.  She is relentless on the field, always giving all she has, and demands the same from her teammates.  She is effortless in her leadership approach and has a magnetism about her that brings out the best in others."

Meghan Leary, Defense

Endicott's most decorated captain, Leary has been named to the All-CCC First Team in each of her first two seasons as well as National Field Hockey Coaches Association First Team (2012) and Second Team (2011) honors.  In 2012, Leary also earned two CCC Defensive Player of the Week awards and an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Week nod.  She has started every game (41) since her career began and has totaled one goal and three assists. 

Coach Cipolla says, "Meg is a player that other players want to be like.  Although she is very talented, she never settles and is always working to better herself and those around her.  Meg is representative of a rising junior class that has been the backbone of this team's success.  She makes our program better every time she takes the field."

Glynn, O'Halloran, Teevens, Leary, and the rest of the Endicott field hockey team wait in anticipation for a 2013 season that begins on Friday, August 30^th with their season and home opener against 2012's top-ranked team in New England, Babson College.
