    • Ten In-A-Row; Field Hockey Continues Streak with Road Win over Nichols

    DUDLEY, Mass. – After going 9-0 in the month of September, the Endicott field hockey team continued their unbeaten streak into October by defeating CCC rival Nichols 3-1 to win their 10th game in-a-row. Senior forward Emily Sawchuck (Cumberland, Maine), with two goals against the Bison on Wednesday night, inched closer to both the all-time scoring and points record while as a team the Blue and Green controlled nearly every facet of the game.

    DUDLEY, Mass. – After going 9-0 in the month of September, the Endicott field hockey team continued their unbeaten streak into October by defeating CCC rival Nichols 3-1 to win their 10th game in-a-row. Senior forward Emily Sawchuck (Cumberland, Maine), with two goals against the Bison on Wednesday night, inched closer to both the all-time scoring and points record while as a team the Blue and Green controlled nearly every facet of the game.

    Endicott (10-1, 5-0 CCC) will look to continue their recent success on Saturday, October 4th at CCC and North Shore Cup opponent Gordon. The Gulls will look to exact some revenge on the Scots who eliminated Endicott from the 2013 CCC Tournament in the semifinal round. Saturday's game will start at 11:00 am at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

    Sawchuck netted both of her goals in a first half that saw Endicott own a 3-0 advantage by halftime. Sawchuck kicked off the scoring in the 13th minute, reeling in a pass from senior forward Mackenzie Hurst (Gilford, N.H.) and finishing a high shot past the Bison keeper.

    Just over five minutes later at 18:05, senior Jess Linden (Stratford, Conn.) fired her second goal of the season, unassisted, from 15 yards out to the left side of the cage to put Endicott on top 2-0.

    With 2:23 remaining until halftime, the Blue and Green pushed their first half lead up to three goals on Sawchuck's second tally of the game off an assist from freshman forward Maggie Layo (Sandwich, Mass.). Layo's second assist of the season helped Sawchuck reach 10 goals this fall and 52 for her career. With 22 career assists, five this season, Sawchuck currently sits at 126 career points. She is three goals and two points shy of tying both records.

    Reigning CCC Defensive Player of the Week winner, Endicott sophomore Cheka Ventura (Lawrence, Mass.), put together another solid effort in goal with six saves and just one goal allowed, a Jenn Townsend (Wethersfield, Conn.) goal in the 45th minute. She faced seven Bison shots on goal and four penalty corners by the Nichols offense.

    Endicott outshot Nichols 27-10 in the game and held a 13-4 advantage on penalty corners. The Bison fell to 2-8 (0-5 CCC) on the year.
