BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott field hockey team welcomed No. 19 Amherst to North Field on Thursday evening and were ultimately handed a tough 3-1 loss by the Mammoths.

Amherst took an early 1-0 lead at the 9:48 mark when Natalie Hobbs (Wilmington, Del.) ran the ball into the circle and took a hard shot that found the back of the net.

The Gulls responded less than ten minutes later when they capitalized on a corner opportunity. Maggie O'Reilly (Cheshire, Conn.) sent a pass to the front of the goal where Cameron Molinare (Simsbury, Conn.) was waiting to sweep the ball past the Mammoth netminder.

With less than one minute remaining in the first half, Emery Sorvino (New Vernon, N.J.) collected her own rebound to score her second goal of the season and give Amherst a 2-1 edge heading into halftime.

Both teams continued to battle throughout the second half as Endicott looked for the tying goal.

At the 53:36 mark, Franny Daniels (Essex, Conn.) secured the 3-1 victory for the Mammoths with a tally on a rebounded shot.
