Field Hockey Blanks No. 19 MIT, 3-0
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Endicott field hockey team defeated No. 19 nationally ranked MIT, 3-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday night at Jack Barry Field.
Lily Farnham (Andover, Mass.) got the scoring started for the Gulls in the first quarter as the senior slid one home a rebound opportunity following a Reagan Hicks (Barnstable, Mass.) shot with just over five minutes remaing.
Another Endicott goal, this time scored by Abby Antonelli (Worcester, Mass.) came in the second quarter as she hammered the ball into the goal after the Engineers goalie had come out to play the ball off to the side and gave the Gulls a 2-0 lead.
With the Blue and Green holding onto their 2-0 lead coming out of halftime, Lily Johnson (Paxton, Mass.) scored her first career goal in a Gulls uniform to make the game 3-0. Another rebound opportunity presented its self for the Gulls as a shot deflected off MIT's goalie and fell right to Johnson who was able to beat score on the short-side.
Faith Minickene (Madison, Conn.) made eight stops in the contest including five in the fourth quarter to keep the host Engineers off the scoreboard and pick up her first win of the season.
