Men's Basketball Goes Wire-To-Wire; Defeats Regis, 77-61
WESTON, Mass. — The Endicott men's basketball team defeated Regis handily, 77-61, in Tuesday evening's non-conference matchup from inside Higgins Court.
Elijah Kinney (Nashville, Tenn.) led the way with 25 points (9-16 FG, 6-6 FT, 1-1 3PT), 16 rebounds, four blocks, two assists, and a steal.
Marcus Montagnino (Gloucester, Mass.) stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points (7-13 FG), seven dimes, six boards, and three steals.
Caden Sullivan (Franklin, Mass.) rounded out the double-digit scorers with a 13-point (5-8 FG, 3-5 3PT), four-rebound, two-assist, and two-pilfer night from the field.
After a 10 day rest, the Gulls showed no signs of rust. They jumped out to a commanding 17-0 lead thanks to some sharpshooting from Jeff Hill (Lynn, Mass.) and Sullivan as well as some power play down low from Kinney and Montagnino (opening 6:18 of play).
The Pride finally got some momentum going with a brief 9-2 spurt, but AJ Forte (Peabody, Mass.) swung the needle back in the Gulls' favor with a catch and shoot corner three to put the Gulls back up by 15 (24-9).
A few possessions later, Sullivan and Montagnino both ripped the cords from downtown to extend Endicott's lead back to 17 (36-19).
Regis scored to trim the deficit down to 15, but the Gulls held the lead there heading into the halftime break.
At the break, Montagnino and Sullivan each led the Gulls in scoring with 11 a piece.
With the two teams trading baskets the majority of the way through the second half, a Max Grenert (Beverly, Mass.) corner triple was effectively the dagger to put the Gulls back up by 18 (76-58) with 1:16 remaining.
The Blue and Green dribbled out the clock a minute later to seal their 77-61 road win.
