Gulls Take Aim at CCC
Aug. 18, 2005
BEVERLY, MA -- The Endicott Men's golf team had a successful 2004 golf season. The Gulls are gunning for a CCC title in 2005 as they return the top four players from last year.
Captain Brian Gill (Hudson, MA) and junior Matt George (Dover, NH) led the 2004 squad. Both players were key components in establishing Endicott as one of the top Division III teams in New England.
Nick Turczak (Housantonic, MA) was the biggest surprise of 2004. As a freshman, Turczak was consistently shooting in the 70's competing with Gill and George. In addition to the top three players, Matt Davis (Keene, NH), Justin McLear (Adams, MA), Kenny Dargon (Norwood, MA), Alex Lawner (Hollis, NH), Mike Desrosiers (Granby, MA), Matt Gajda (Williamstown, MA), and Matt Barnes (East Lyme, CT) all played key roles in the team's success. Davis carried the brunt of the duties as the No.4 player. Davis was steady and had a great competitive edge.
In tournament play, the Gulls improved their team stroke average in every tournament from the prevous season. With several top five finishes, Endicott's best performances were a second place finish in the CCC Championship and a fourth place showing in the N.E.I.G.A. New England Division III Championship.
The New England Championship had 46 teams from Division I, II, and III. Gill had the best round for the team all year, shooting 75 on the final day, which was tied for the third best round.
With only three players lost to graduation (Barnes, Dargon, McLear), Endicott is ready to take aim at a CCC Championship this season.
