Palazzo, who tied for seventh, led the Gulls for the entire tournament, carding a two round total of 157 following an opening round 76 on the par 72 course and a second round 81. His first round 76 was good enough to tie for fifth after the first day of competition as tough conditions elevated scores across the board on day two. The seventh place finish is the second highest of the freshman's young career as he finished in sixth at the UNE Invitational.
Finishing second for the Gulls were sophomore Dan Negus (Pembroke, Mass.) and junior Austin Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) who finished tied for 34th out of the 109 golfer field. Both golfers shot a 167 on the two day event, as Negus recorded rounds of 82 and 85 while Teal carded an 80 and an 87.
Junior Alex Viola (Brunswick, Maine) finished tied for 43rd after posting a two day score of 168. Viola shot an 89 on day one of play and was stellar on day two, shooting a team low 79. Rounding out the tournament for the Gulls was freshman Drew Benshoff (Concord, Mass.) who finished with a 176 (87, 89).
Endicott is now off for two weeks as they prepare for the NEIGA Championships, held at The Captains Course in Bernardston, Mass. The event is scheduled to run for three days, Saturday through Monday, but was cut to two days in 2013 due to weather. Please check back with ECGulls.com for updates if weather becomes an issue. Endicott finished the 2013 Championships 11th out of 38 teams and were led by Austin Teal as he tied for eighth overall.
