BREWSTER, Mass. – Competing in the final competition of the fall season, the Endicott men's golf team finished sixth out of 20 teams at the NEIGA DIII Championships held at The Captains Course in Brewster, Mass.
The Gulls were led by Athan Goulos (Peabody, Mass.) who finished in fifth place shooting a two-day score of 151. On day one, Goulos finished two strokes back from the lead and tied for second place by shooting a 75 before settling for fifth overall. For his efforts, Goulos was named to the All-New England Region Team.
Sophomore Christopher Billings (Portland, Maine) finished tied for 24th with a two-day total of 160, and junior Drew Benshoff (Concord, Mass.) posted an opening round of 81 prior to carding an 82 on day two to close his championship appearance tied for 39th.
Meanwhile, junior Ben Palazzo (Farmington, Conn.) finished with a two-round total of 165 to end in a tie for 56th, while senior Dan Negus (Pembroke, Mass.) ended his fall campaign finishing 91st after posting a combined 176.
"It was tough to gain momentum with the blustery wind both days," said Endicott head coach Tom Smith. "We battled through it and were able to finish a few shots better than our day one total. Overall we had a very successful fall season and we are looking forward to working hard on swing mechanics and fundamentals in the offseason as we prepare for our conference championship this spring."
