Men’s Golf Takes Home Third Straight Runner-Up Finish At CNE Championship
BLOOMFIELD, Conn. — The Endicott men's golf team finished second overall at the Conference of New England (CNE) Championship over the weekend at Tumble Brook Country Club (Par 72 – 6,782 yards).
Host Hartford (+17, 294-299, 593) won its first-ever CNE championship by finishing 11 strokes under the Gulls (+28, 302-302, 604).
Derek Johnson (Mountain Top, Pa.) of Western New England shot an eye-opening -8 (68-68, 136) throughout the championship, which was good for medalist honors, beating out both second place finishers by 10 strokes.
Myles O'Quinn (Durham, N.H.) captured his third straight top-10 ranking by shooting +2 (tied-2nd, 73-73, 146) throughout the two-day tournament.
Hadyn Kornusky (Topsfield, Mass.) worked his way into the top-10 in a field of 45 golfers with a sixth place finish (tied, 78-72, 150).
After capping off day one in 14th, the senior registered a day two round of even par (72), which was six strokes better than his first round score.
For their efforts, O'Quinn was named to the All-CNE First Team, while Kornusky secured a spot on the All-CNE Second Team.
The top-12 golfers at the CNE Championship earn All-Conference accolades (4 first team, 4 second team, 4 third team).
