Men’s Golf Ranks Third At NEIGA Championship; LaCross Earns Runner-Up Finish
BREWSTER, Mass. – The Endicott men's golf team ranked third at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship over the weekend, hosted by the Captains Golf Club (par 72 – 6,604 yards).
Hartford won the two-day championship with a score of +22 (598 | 299, +11 | 299, +11), while Western New England followed in second at +24 (600 | 301, +13 | 299, +11).
Endicott filled out the top-3 at +29 (605 | 304, +16 | 301, +13).
Connor LaCross (Upton, Mass.) put together his best performance of the season, shooting +1 (72-73, 145) to finish runner-up behind Western New England's Derek Johnson (Mountain Top, Pa.) in the tournament.
The senior was tied for first place through round one after registering a first round score of even par (72). LaCross logged an efficient back nine on day one with only one hole above par (six pars, two birdies).
Myles O'Quinn (Durham, N.H.) ranked eighth overall with a +5 effort (75-74, 149), giving the Gulls two golfers inside the top-10 of the 119-player field.
Oliver Watson (New Paltz, N.Y.), Quinn Mathews (Melrose, Mass.), and Hadyn Kornusky (Topsfield, Mass.) rounded out the scorecards for the Blue and Green with 18th (tied, 78-74, 152), 40th (tied, 76-80, 156), and 55th (tied, 79-81, 160) place finishes.
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
- LaCross earned his career-best tournament ranking with his second place finish.
- O'Quinn captured his fourth consecutive individual top-10 finish.
- Endicott got the best Conference of New England (CNE) opponents Roger Williams (7th, 309-311, 620), Nichols (t-8th, 315-310, 625), Gordon (t-8th, 318-307, 625), Wentworth (11th, 325-303, 628), Suffolk (15th, 329-307, 636), and UNE (21st, 333-341, 674).
- The Gulls carded 25 total birdies throughout the weekend.
