No. 12/13 Men’s Ice Hockey Drops Nichols, 6-2

BEVERLY, Mass. – Led by a four-point effort from sophomore forward Josh Bowes (Edmonton, Alberta), the No. 12/13 nationally ranked Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Nichols College, 6-2, in conference action on Thursday night at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Tied 2-2 late in the second period, sophomore defenseman Carter Horwitz (Tustin, Calif.) whistled home a wrist shot from the point on feeds via Bowes and Jack Musil (Hull, England) to give the Gulls a 3-2 advantage, and they never looked back.

Bowes went on to increase Endicott's lead to 4-2 in the third (4:28) with a shorthanded, breakaway, five-hole goal after winning a loose puck in Endicott's own defensive end. He also followed up with his second tally later in the period (12:57) on passes from Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.) and Thomas Daniels (St. Louis, Mo.).

Joseph Slovak (South Yarmouth, Mass.) capped the scoring at 18:06 of the stanza with an empty net goal after retrieving Bowes' initial shot, and walking the puck into the net.

Endicott goaltender Kevin Aldridge (Birmingham, Mich.) stopped a game-high 42 shots in the win (11-3-2), while Nichols' netminder Colin Brennan (Chester, N.J.) had 30 saves in the loss (9-4-3).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Bowes' four-point effort tonight tied the single-game program record.
• Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) finished with four blocked shots, and a plus-2 rating.
• Horwitz led all student-athletes with six blocked shots, to go along with his plus-1 rating.
• Endicott is now 2-2-0 in the all-time series against Nichols.

FOR THE FOES

• Vincent Crivello (Rosemere, Quebec) originally tied up the game at 1-1 in the first period (16:02) with his fourth goal of the season, before J.B. Baker (Columbia, Md.) pushed the Bison ahead, 2-1, in the second (8:37) with his 11th tally of the year off his own rebound.
• Blake Kelly (Woodbury, Minn.) assisted on both of Nichols' goals tonight.
• Hogan Davidson (Duluth, Minn.) and Scott Cuthrell (Wateford, Mich.) tied Endicott's Tommy Besinger (Milton, Mass.) in the face-off department with 10 wins apiece.
