    • Logan Day Named Joe Concannon Award Finalist

    BEVERLY, Mass. – Gridiron Club of Greater Boston president Chris Clemente announced today that Brady Fleurent from the University of New England is the winner of the 17th Joe Concannon Award, presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England at the D-II/III level. Endicott’s Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) and four other NCAA Division II/III student-athletes from the New England region were named finalists for the award.

    JOE CONCANNON AWARD RELEASE

    BEVERLY, Mass. – Gridiron Club of Greater Boston president Chris Clemente announced today that Brady Fleurent from the University of New England is the winner of the 17th Joe Concannon Award, presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England at the D-II/III level. Endicott's Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) and four other NCAA Division II/III student-athletes from the New England region were named finalists for the award.

    The Joe Concannon Award was established in 2001 shortly after the passing of the longtime writer for The Boston Globe, who had a great passion for the game of college hockey while always advocating strongly for amateur athletics.

    Fleurent, a sophomore from Biddeford, Maine, led all scorers in the nation with 18 goals and 35 assists for 53 points. He plays on the dangerous B-F-F line that includes teammates Ryan Bloom and brother and fellow finalist Trevor Fleurent. Brady's 53 points broke the single-season scoring record for UNE and helped carry the Nor'easters to the championship game against Endicott College in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).

    Meanwhile, Day is the first-ever Joe Concannon Award finalist in program history. Day also was an integral element in Endicott College's capturing the CCC regular-season championship and qualifying for their first NCAA tournament. Endicott lost in the quarterfinals to Trinity, 2-1, in double overtime. Day finished the season with 15 goals and 25 assists for 40 points, tops among all defensemen in the country.

    The other finalists who joined day on the list were T. Fleurent (UNE), Jackson Leaf (Westfield State), Colin Larkin (UMass Boston), and Cody Smith (Norwich).
