Gulls To Host Concussion Awareness Night In Partnership With The Headway Foundation On 1/25

BEVERLY, Mass. – On Saturday, January 25, the Endicott men's ice hockey team will host Concussion Awareness Night through a partnership with the Headway Foundation when the Gulls play Becker College at 3 PM at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

This weekend's Concussion Awareness Night was organized by Endicott men's ice hockey alum Ross Olsson '18 M'19 (Billerica, Mass.), his current teammate with the Worcester Railers Nic Pierog (Halton, Ontario), and Gulls' captain Luke Rodgers (Clarkston, Mich.).

The Headway Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded by three former NCAA hockey student-athletes (Paige Decker – Yale '14, Josephine Pucci – Harvard '15/Sochi '14, and Danny Otto - Yale '12) that seeks to spread awareness about concussions by promoting a safer sports culture, providing resources to help educate concussed athletes/patients, and enhancing concussion evaluation protocols and their accessibility at all levels of sport. Their goal is to address the injury from a positive and productive angle by utilizing a peer-to-peer approach to spread knowledge and hopefully keep athletes in the game for the long term.

In February 2019, Headway partnered with a number of different Professional, NCAA college teams, and high school teams, for its third annual Concussion Awareness Weekend, which has featured 175 teams and nearly 5,000 athletes. Most recently, Headway has also partnered with the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL to raise further awareness.

Meanwhile, as for this year, be on the lookout for any of your other favorite hockey teams who are participating in the 2020 Concussion Awareness Week between January 24 to February 2 just like your Endicott men's ice hockey team.
