Men's Hockey Races Past Becker, 5-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Becker College, 5-0, Thursday night at Worcester Ice Arena. 

After skating most of the first period scoreless, Noah Strawn (Wareham, Mass.) buried two goals in the final five minutes of the period to give the Gulls a two-goal cushion. The freshman forward put the Gulls up 1-0 at 14:56 and then 2-0 at 17:14. 

Endicott's third, fourth, and fifth goals all came on the power play. James Winkler (York, Maine) put the Gulls up 3-0 with his ninth goal of the season, at 15:11 of the second period, Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.), made it 4-0 with his third goal of the season, at 05:06 of the third period, and Winkler rounded out the scoring with his tenth goal of the season making it 5-0 at 17:58 of the final frame.  

Meanwhile, Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla earned his second shutout of the season, making 23 saves to improve to 12-4-0 on the season. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Strawn's two goals tonight were the first of his Endicott career. 
• Connor Amsley (Carlisle, Pa.), Campbell Balk (West Olive, Mich.), Mitch Shaheen (North Andover, Mass.), Jake Simons (Coral Springs, Fla.), Zach Mazur (Lancaster, N.Y.), Eric Johansson (Malmo, Sweden), Kalinowski, and Winkler all registered assists tonight for The Gulls. 
• Winkler's 10 goals are good for first on the team. 
• The Gulls have won three straight conference games. 
• Endicott is now 9-0 all-time versus Becker. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (11-5-0, 7-2-0 CCC) will host Becker (5-11-0, 2-7-0 CCC) on Saturday, January 25 at 3 PM as the Gulls host Youth Hockey Day where free entry will be offered for those that wear their youth hockey jerseys. There will also be a "kid of the game", a chance to assist in announcing the starting lineup, as well as meet the team after the game. Also during this game, the Gulls will host Concussion Awareness Night in partnership with the Headway Foundation.
