Endicott explodes for 10 second half goals in 13-4 win over Gordon

Wenham, Mass. – The Endicott men’s lacrosse team scored 11 straight goals after falling behind 2-0 in the first quarter en route to a 13-4 win over Gordon in TCCC action Saturday night.
The Gulls (11-3, 8-0 TCCC) saw their goalie, sophomore Mike Klein (Darien, Conn.), make 18 saves while allowing just four goals to the Scots (7-6, 6-2 TCCC).
Endicott’s Brian Estes (Derry, N.H.) led the offense with five goals with Justin Sproul (Londonderry, N.H.), Chris Gugino (West Hartford, Conn.), and Jack Curtis (Chelmsford, Mass.) each putting in two goals each. Gugino added an assist as well as five groundballs in a solid overall effort by the senior.
Defensively, Gulls senior Andrew Pochebit (Portland, Maine) caused problems for the Gordon attacks all game with four caused turnovers. Sam Ozycz (Cheshire, Conn.) led all players with a game-high nine groundballs due to winning 14-of-19 faceoff opportunities.
Gordon’s Adam Quinn (Gloucester, Mass.) led the Scots with two goals with Dan Utz (Rochester, N.Y.) and Jeremy Nelson (West Chester, Pa.) each adding a tally of their own.
Scots keeper Houston Zemanski (Annapolis, Md.) was under fire all game long, making 24 saves between the pipes.
Gordon jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in this game with man-up goals by Nelson and Utz within the first four minutes of the first quarter. Endicott’s Connor McCormack (Norwalk, Conn.) and Curtis evened up the score in the first quarter with goals, both assisted by senior Chris Cotter (Lordship, Conn.).
The lone goal of the second quarter was scored by Sproul who collected a Brendan Eppley (Darien, Conn.) pass and beat the goalie to put Endicott up 3-2.
The Gulls came out strong at the start of the second half, scoring 38 seconds into the third quarter to go up 4-2. Cotter went unassisted for his only goal of the game. Endicott went on to score seven third quarter goals and three more in the fourth quarter to close out the game.
Endicott struggled on man-up opportunities in the first half after going 0-for-4, but in the second half the Gulls converted 3-of-5 chances into goals.
Endicott continues their TCCC schedule on Wednesday, April 20th with a road game against Roger Williams starting at 4:00 pm.
