Marshall's OT Winner Gives Men's Lacrosse Comeback Win Over Nazareth, 10-9 (OT)
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Endicott men's lacrosse team defeated Nazareth College, 10-9 (OT), in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at NLPA Field.
With the score tied 9-9, Manny Marshall (Chelmsford, Mass.) rolled back off his defender into the middle of the field and scored off a high bounce shot to pickup the road win.
Tommy Tyksinski (Guilderland, N.Y.) led the way offensively with a hat-trick. Donovan Devellis (Norfolk, Mass.) added two goals and two assists for a career-high four points.
Joseph Tumolo (Mahopac, N.Y.) also notched two goals, while Daniel DeBetta (Babylon, N.Y.), and Nick Graap (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) all added solo tallies.
In goal, Gio Panicola (Long Beach, N.Y.) made his first career start as he recorded eight saves. The sophomore also scooped up two ground balls. Travis Foster (Wells, Maine) went 11-20 at the faceoff "X" with four ground balls.
Trailing 8-3 less than two minutes into the third quarter, the Gulls rattled off three consecutive goals from Tumolo, DeBetta, and Tyksinski. The Blue and Green also forced Nazareth into five turnovers and outshot them 14-7 during the third quarter.
Trailing entering the fourth quarter, goals from Tyksinski and Devellis tied the game at the 6:49 mark of the fourth quarter. Nazareth would add a man-up tally with just over four minutes remaining but Foster won the ensuing faceoff and fed Graap for the game-tying goal.
In overtime, Foster won the opening face-off, allowing Endicott to take a timeout and retain possession. During the possession the ball worked over to Marshall by the near sideline and the junior dodged his defender one-on-one and got his hands free for his first career game-winning goal.
