NEWPORT, R.I. – In their fifth match of the 2015 fall season, the Endicott men's rugby team suffered a 40-21 road loss to CCRC opponent Salve Regina on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Gulls drop to 3-2 on the year while the Seahawks remain undefeated.
Salve Regina jumped out to an early lead going up 26-0 in the first half.
"We came out somewhat slow against a great team," said Endicott men's rugby head coach Bob Ryman. "We gained momentum through the second half by narrowing Salve Regina's lead to five before several late scores by the Seahawks. I was proud of our ability to battle back against a team who has not given up a lot of points this season."
The Gulls were led by sophomore Max Tuttle (Pittsfield, N.H.), junior Matt Doyle (Hingham, Mass.), and senior Brian Sussingham (Yonkers, N.Y.).
With the loss, the Gulls fall out of contention for the New England Championship but will return to action on Saturday October 24th against Wentworth. Salve Regina will have a bye week before traveling Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Saturday October 31st.
