Endicott Breaks Out Against Curry
Sept. 16, 2004
Beverly, MA - The Endicott men's soccer team opened conference play with an impressive 5-0 win over Curry College yesterday. The win moves Endicott to 3-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play.
EC dominated the first half only allowing 2 shots on goal while recording 18 shots of their own. Senior Josh Lewis scored on a penalty kick to open the scoring 24:50 into the half and was also instrumental in maintaining pressure on the Curry defense. Senior Pete Mendel and junior Daniel Duvernoy played a tremendous half in the midfield. Although EC had a number of scoring opportunities, following the Lewis goal, they went into the half only up 1-0.
Unlike the first half, Endicott found the back of the net on a regular basis in the second half. Only 7 minutes into the half, sophomore Chris Croteau chased down a through ball from senior Ryan Vigilant and buried a hard shot into the side netting giving EC a more comfortable 2-0 lead. Only moments later, Lewis again captured a tally on a cross from junior Steven Gloria, which moved EC's lead to 3-0. Newcomer to the scoring sheet, freshman Pranam Lipinski, increased the lead to 4-0 on a brilliant through ball by Lewis, which ended Lewis' extraordinary day with 2 goals and an assist. Finally, Joshua Golden ended the scoring with 9 minutes left on a throw by Mendel. Sophomore Tyler Hardy and freshman Brandon Jones anchored the EC defense in the second half allowing only 1 shot on goal.
EC hopes to continue their impressive scoring on Saturday when they host Roger Williams University at 3pm.
