Men's soccer drops 3-0 match to Nichols

Dudley, Mass. – The Endicott men’s soccer team opened up action in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC), falling to Nichols College 3-0. The Gulls drop to 0-2-1 (0-1 TCCC) following the loss while the Bison improved to 2-1 (1-0 TCCC).

Nichols sophomore Scott Coderre (Thompson, Conn.)
scored twice in the second half to lead the Bison over the
Gulls. Coderre’s first goal in the 84th
minute came on a through ball in the middle of the box from Pat
Gaumond (Holden, Mass.) and then again five minutes later from
Michael Schell (South Windsor, Conn.). Endicott keeper
\#Daniel Higgins\# (Kingstown, R.I.) got a hand on the final goal
of the game but the shot deflected the left corner of the
net.
In
the first half, the eventual game-winning goal was scored by
Gaumond at 17:52 after receiving a pass from Mike Capitanio
(Mansfield, Mass.) in the right side of the box and then after
maneuvering past two defenders, placed his shot high in the left
corner to beat the goalie.
Higgins, Endicott’s
keeper, made three saves in the match while allowing three
goals. On the other side of the field between the posts,
Brendan Hamilton (North Attleboro, Mass.) recorded his second
consecutive shutout with seven saves.
The Bison outshot the Gulls
19-10 and held a slim advantage in corner kicks at 8-7.
Endicott will host Tufts
University on Tuesday, September 14 at 6 pm in non-conference
action while Nichols travels to Becker College for a 7pm
match.
