Men's soccer defeated by Wentworth 2-1

– A goal by Wentworth Institute of Technology in the
second half lifted the Leopards to a 2-1 victory over Endicott
College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) men’s
soccer action on Saturday. The Gulls are now 4-8-1 (4-5 TCCC)
while the Leopards improve to 8-6 (6-4 TCCC).
Wentworth scored first in the
28th minute as Ben Nasman (Lenox, Mass.) scored his
fourth goal of the season, unassisted, after scrambling for the
ball and firing a shot to the upper left corner of the
net.
Endicott responded under five
minutes later at 32:43 as Gulls sophomore defender \#Kevin Gnecco\#
(North Hampton, N.H.) rocketed a shot from 25 yards out that sailed
over the keeper’s hands to tie the score at 1-1. An
assist was given to \#Jared Rizzo\# (Peabody, Mass.).
In the middle of the second
half, Wentworth would tally the game-winning goal in the
66th minute. Dan Santacroce (Northford, Conn.) hit
a shot from the top of the box to \#Daniel Higgins\#’
(Kingstown, R.I.) right to put the Leopards up 2-1.
Endicott outshot Wentworth 16-11
in the match. Higgins had to make only two saves while his
counterpart Brian Pearsall (Sanford, Maine) made nine stops while
giving up the lone goal.
There were three yellow cards
issued in the match, two to Endicott and one to Wentworth, and both
teams committed 11 fouls in an aggressive conference match.
The Gulls take on Colby-Sawyer
College on Sunday, October 17 at 3:30 pm in New London,
N.H. Wentworth hosts Nichols on Tuesday, October 19 at
7:00 pm.
