Men's Soccer Falls to Saint Joseph's 0-1 in OT

STANDISH, Maine-  Coming off two CCC wins in a row that saw the Gulls score a combined ten goals in those two matches, the men's soccer program couldn't find the back of the net at all as they fell to Saint Joseph's 0-1 in overtime.  Endicott falls to 7-6-2 (2-2-1 CCC) as Saint Joseph's improves to 7-6-2 as well.

The Gulls and Monks played through two quarters of scoreless play before entering overtime.  The Monks immediately went to the attack as senior Teddy Palmer (Scarborough, Maine) collected a feed from fellow senior Alex Day (Portland, Maine) and buried it in the back of the net.  Endicott's freshman keeper Austin Peluso (Farmington, Conn.) played well in his third start as he was able to turn away six of the seven shots put on goal.  That one goal would be enough however as Scott Benner (Post Falls, Idaho) was able to post a shutout for the home squad.  Benner was able to turn aside all four shots that the Endicott offense was able to muster and put on net.  

Ryan D'Amico (Marlborough, Conn.) provided most of the offensive spark for the Gulls as he registered three of the total four shots the team put on goal.  The junior midfielder had five shots total in the match.  Freshman Zach Zizzo (Redding, Conn.) was able to record the other shot on goal for the Gulls as he registered a total of three during the contest.  Jordan Daniel (Canton, Conn.), who had tallied four goals and two assists in his last two contests, was held without a point as he was able to attempt four shots.  Endicott's defense was led by senior Michael MacLeay (Epping, N.H.), junior Brett Longobucco (Torrington, Conn.) and sophomore Jed Magnusson (Kingston, N.H.) as the trio only allowed the Monks to put seven shots on goal.  

The Monks were led by Palmer as the senior attempted five shots on the day, two of which were on goal.  Palmer's goal was his fourth of the season.  Close behind him was teammate Alex Day as he recorded four shots, one of which was on goal.  The assist was Day's first of the season.  Saint Joseph's keeper Scott Benner was able to improve his overall record to 6-2-2 as he lowered his already impressive 0.91 goals against average.

Endicott is now off until Saturday when the travel to CCC foe Western New England for an 11 a.m. start.  WNE and Endicott are currently tied with identical 2-2-1 conference records.  Saint Joseph's is off until Saturday also as the team will travel to Nashua, N.H. to take on Rivier at 1 p.m.
