Nunes' Clutch Game-Winner Sends Endicott Past Gordon, 1-0
WENHAM, Mass. — Ethan Nunes (Chattanooga, Tenn.) drilled home an 86th minute game-winner to send the Endicott men's soccer team past Gordon, 1-0, in Saturday evening's Conference of New England (CNE) showdown at Brigham Athletic Complex.
In a scoreless nailbiter, Nunes followed up Sam Cochran's (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) shot for his second career Endicott goal to win the game for the Gulls late.
The first 85 minutes consisted of tight back-and-forth play. At the break, the Fighting Scots led in the shot column by a 9-0 tally.
However, the Gulls were able to hang tough and keep the Scots at bay. The back line of Konrad Krysztoforski (Bydgoszcz, Poland), Drew McClay-Ward (Loughborough, England), Tim Lynch (Groton, Conn.), Carter McCoy (Monroe, Conn.), and Jackson Mercieri (Easton, Mass.) kept the hosts scoreless despite their chances on net.
Ethan Harrison (Sandy Springs, Ga.) turned in his career-best performance, as he notched 10 saves in the must-win contest.
Then, with the time dwindling down, Nunes buried his game-winner to nail the contest down, and the Gulls defense was able to lock up the Scots for the final few minutes of play to finish the crucial Endicott win.
With the win, Harrison improved to 3-2-1 on the season.
